TRIBUTE 

 

TO THE CHILDREN OF AFGHANISTAN AND ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE WORLD, BE THEY BELIEVERS OR NOT!

 

9 September 2001: A dreadful and infamous attempt perpetrated against Ahmad Shah Massoud, a man of exceptional and deep goodness, cost him his life, thus bringing gloom and revolt to the hearts of the people who knew him but also to all those who - by an unforgivable indifference from the Western media, with the exception of Christophe de Ponfilly and his friends - were not even given this opportunity to know him.

In this entirely fictitious story, written to bring a little comfort to the numerous people still mourning his cruel loss, the role of mystic animals has not been neglected - not only Borâq, the magnificient stallion of the Prophet Mahomet, but also the birds and the ants are participants.

In this little collection of poetry, the reader will find several similarities between the different religions, perhaps one more little step towards tolerance and respect due to others and their differences...

May the family, friends, people and all the admirers of the "Light-bearer", find a little relief throughout this fable in which the black notions of politics, hate, fanaticism, war and unhappiness were intentionally excluded.  This in order to give a free access to dream and magic, so fiercely absent in our world, and to show the beauties of the Muslim religion - a faith most hastily and contemptuously disparaged and slandered nowadays.

Best regards and respect to the people of Afghanistan and any other people suffering from racial or religious prejudice.

You will find here both British and American English, as we chose the first for our personal liking and prefer to leave the second in the tests and poems in which it was placed.  So there is no mistake of spelling here:  (marvellous, marvelous/honour, honor/travelled, traveled/moulded, molded, fulfil, fulfill and so on). 

 

 

Dear Madam, 

You have most willingly sent me a copy of your book of poetry in tribute to Commander Massoud, book of which you are the author. 

As you wrote in your letter, my former position of President of the European Parliament, allowed me to welcome officially Commander Massoud in Strasbourg at the beginning of April 2001.   

By this invitation, I wanted to mark the political gratefulness of the International Community to a charismatic hero of the Afghani resistance, the man would put an end to ten years of Soviet invasion and fought with determination against the barbaric rule of the Taliban, fanatics who violated the basic rights and human dignity.

Thus, I was deeply touched and stricken with grief at the murder of this man that took place some days before the terrific attacks against the World Trade Center.  We could regret that the Western people did not help him more in his fight.

It is with great emotion that I receive your book today and I sincerely thank you for this gift.

I warmly congratulate you for the quality of your poetry and for generosity towards Afghanistan.

AHMAD SHAH MASSOUD

(1er septembre 1953 - 9 septembre 2001)

 

n'a vécu que 48 ans.

 

Cet intellectuel, poète, amoureux de la France et de la langue française qu'il parlait couramment, cet homme admirateur de De Gaulle qui rêvait de devenir instituteur, aura passé 22 années à revêtir l'habit du guerrier pour combattre les Soviétiques puis les Taliban.

Première victime des attentats de septembre 2001, Ahmad Shah Massoud était bien plus qu'un homme mais, comme l'affirment son peuple qui le vénérait "une école".

A cet époux exemplaire qui laisse aujourd'hui une veuve désolée mais aussi forte que lui, à ce père de six enfants, dévoué et indulgent, j'ai voulu consacrer ce blog :

only lived 48 years.

He was an intellectual, poet, lover of France and the French tongue, which he spoke fluently. He was a man who was an admirer of De Gaulle, who dreamed of becoming a teacher, but who was forced to put on the warrior uniform, first to fight against the Soviets, then the Talibans.

The first victim of the attacks of September 2001, Ahmad Shah Massoud was more than a man, rather "a school of thoughts" as his people who venerated him declared.

I wanted to dedicate this blog to this loving husband who leaves today a bewildered widow as strong as he was and to a most devoted and indulgent father of six children.

Ce journal est dédié à la mémoire de :

AHMAD SHAH MASSOUD,

 

Première victime trop souvent oubliée des attentats de septembre 2001.

 

Parce qu'il fut poète, contraint de revêtir l'habit du guerrier,

Parce qu'il eut à combattre sans cesse pour son rêve de paix,

Parce qu'il possédait au coeur un vrai amour de l'humanité,

Parce qu'il représentait l'Islam tolérant à l'encontre d'un obsurantisme forcené,

Parce qu'il traça aux fillettes le chemin de la liberté,

Parce qu'il signa pour les femmes une charte d'égalité,

Parce qu'il était épris de justice et de fraternité,

Parce qu'il était courage dans un monde de lâcheté,

 Parce qu'il reconnut ses erreurs  pour mieux s'en amender,

Parce qu'il reçut au visage le crachat de la méchanceté,

Parce qu'il fut honni, moqué et trop peu écouté,

Parce qu'on le dissimula à l'Occident pour mieux le bâillonner,

Parce qu'il eut à souffrir de se sentir isolé,

Parce qu'on le fit périr d’une façon abjecte et éhontée,

Parce qu'il n'assista pas à la victoire que d'autres se sont appropriée,

Parce qu'il sut demeurer humain malgré la gloire qui l'auréolait,

Parce que la date du 9 septembre n'est jamais commémorée sauf dans son propre pays,

Parce que ceux qui l'aimaient sont en peine et qu'il ne faut surtout pas oublier,

Parce que l'héroïsme de nos jours est trop souvent synonyme de rareté,

Parce qu'il est dit qu'enfin toujours amour sur haine doit gagner,

 

 

NOUS DEMANDONS QUE :

AHMAD SHAH MASSOUD SOIT NOMME PRIX NOBEL DE LA PAIX A TITRE POSTHUME.

 

 

This blog is dedicated to the memory of:

 

AHMAD SHAH MASSOUD,

 

 

The first and too easily forgotten victim of the attacks of September 2001.

Because he was a poet, forced to put on a warrior uniform, 

Because he had to fight constantly for his dream of peace,

 

Because he possessed in his heart a genuine love for humankind,

 

Because he represented a tolerant Islam against a most  fanatic obscurantism

 

Because he traced for little girls the path to freedom,

 

Because he signed for women a charter of equality, 

 

Because he loved justice and fraternity,

Because he was heroic in a world of villainy,

Because he admitted his errors to redeem himself,

 

Because he received on his face the spittle of the wicked,

 

Because he was spurred, mocked and too little listened to,

Because he was kept hidden from the Western people and thus muzzled,

Because he had to endure loneliness,

Because he was murdered in a most treacherous way,

Because he did not attend the victory which others stole to him,

Because he remained human despite the aura of glory,

Because September 9th is never commerated outside his own country,

Because those who loved him suffer and we must not forget it,

Because heroism, nowadays, is too often a synonym of rarity,

Because it is said that love must always prevail over hate,

 

 

WE REQUEST THAT:

 

 AHMAD SHAH MASSOUD SHOULD BE GIVEN THE NOBEL PRICE POSTHUMOUSLY;
